Mr. Vladimir Ikonomov is a specialist with extensive experience in digitalization, information technologies, and the development of technological channels in the banking sector. Over the years, he has developed strong professional and leadership capabilities, managing strategic teams and technology-driven projects. Since 2022, he has also been actively working in the field of artificial intelligence.
From 2010 to 2017, Mr. Ikonomov held expert and managerial roles within the Internal Audit Directorate, focusing on operational audit, fraud analysis and prevention, IT systems audit, information security, as well as the internal development of specialized systems supporting audit processes. From 2017 to 2020, he contributed to the development of the Strategic Planning and Development Directorate as a Project Manager and Head of the Project Organization and Control Unit. From 2020 to March 2025, Mr. Ikonomov led the Digital Banking Directorate, where he built a modern structure and team aligned with the evolving demands of the financial products and services market.
Since March 2025, Mr. Ikonomov has been appointed Chief Digital Development Officer and a Member of the Management Board of First Investment Bank. Responsibilities within the bank include the following directorates: Digital Banking, IT Infrastructure and Operations, Application and Payment Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Automation, IT Architecture and Policies, Project Management Office, and International Markets Development.
Mr. Ikonomov holds a Master’s degree in International Economic Relations from University of National and World Economy and a Master’s degree in Information Security in Computer Systems and Networks from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Sofia University. Throughout his career, he has also obtained professional certifications and qualifications in project management, IT process and change management, relational databases, machine learning, as well as practical training in financial and fintech institutions.
