On June 5, just one day after the publication of the European Commission’s special convergence report on Bulgaria’s readiness to join the eurozone, the 16th edition of one of the country’s most prominent economic forums – THE SOUND OF MONEY 2025 – will take place at Hyatt Regency Sofia.
If the report is positive, Bulgaria is expected to adopt the euro on January 1, 2026.
This milestone in the country’s European integration will set the tone for key discussions at the forum – focused on Bulgaria’s role within the EU’s financial architecture, market resilience, long-term business vision, and the political decisions that will shape the next decade.
Organized by Profit.bg, part of the international media group Ringier, THE SOUND OF MONEY has been a leading platform for dialogue between business, government, and society for the past 16 years.
This year, the forum will bring together prominent figures from institutions, finance, technology, and media for an open debate about the future of the EU amid global turbulence and economic realignment – driven by the new administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
An official address will be delivered by Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova.
THE SOUND OF MONEY 2025 welcomes high-level international visionaries who will offer insight into the future of politics, the shape of power, and Europe’s place in a global order that is being rewritten in real time.
A special guest will be Christian Lindner, Germany’s Finance Minister (2021–2024), and one of the most influential voices for strategic autonomy, fiscal stability, and digital transformation in the EU.
Among the keynote speakers are two of the sharpest analysts of the new global order and regional dynamics following Trump’s return to the White House – Jennifer Wilton, Editor-in-Chief of German media outlet DIE WELT, and Izabella Kaminska, Senior Financial Editor at POLITICO.
The event will be hosted by bTV journalist Svetoslav Ivanov.
What to expect at THE SOUND OF MONEY 2025
Izabella Kaminska from POLITICO will open the forum with a keynote lecture on Europe’s current dilemmas – including how the EU balances transatlantic relations, China, and internal consolidation.
Jennifer Wilton from DIE WELT will share her insights on Germany’s path amid economic transformation, geopolitical responsibility, and domestic political pressures – all in the context of the new world order post-Trump.The flagship panel on Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone will bring together representatives from the Ministry of Finance, leaders from the banking sector, and experts in fiscal policy and market strategy. Topics will include the impact of euro adoption, macroeconomic benefits, and the structural adaptations required.
A major part of the morning will be devoted to the panel Strategic Investments for Sustainable Prosperity, focusing on practical approaches and proven strategies for investing in a volatile environment – and with a vision for the future.
The afternoon block will begin with a fireside chat between journalist Svetoslav Ivanov and former German Finance Minister Christian Lindner, offering a strategic look at the global economy in the post-Trump era. Known for his consistent advocacy of free markets and capital stability, Lindner will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Europe – caught between regulation and economic freedom – in a time of global trade realignment.
In a world of accelerated technological cycles and a global race for digital dominance, where transformation is no longer optional but essential, the panel “The New Tomorrow: Innovation and Business Transformation in the Next Decade” will explore how Bulgaria can turn this reality into a leadership opportunity in the region. The focus will be on economic identity and how to catalyze innovation to become creators, not just followers.
The program continues with a key discussion on energy transition, renewables, and new directions in sustainable energy, followed by the panel “Business with Purpose”, highlighting effective ESG corporate strategies.
